Andhra Mudda Pappu | Traditional South Indian recipe

Andhra Mudda Pappu is a traditional South Indian recipe made using toor daal. Try muddapappu with a little bit of ghee, along with piping hot rice and avakaya (mango pickle).

 

Ingredients:
Kandi Pappu (Toor dal) - 1 cup
2 Cups of water
Garlic - 4 flakes
Karvepaaku (Curry Leaves) - 2 Stems
Jeelakarra (Cumin seeds) - 1 teaspoon
Oil - 1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste

Method :
  1. Wash kandi pappu thoroughly.
  2. Mash garlic cloves and Jeelakarra and keep aside.
  3. Now take a Pressure cooker. Add kandi pappu, water, mashed garlic and jeelakarra, karvepaaku, oil and turmeric powder.
  4. Pressure cook it for 15minutes in low flame.
  5. Remove it and add salt according to taste.
  6. Serve hot with rice and ghee.
